St James Church in Spilsby is to receive £8k for improvements to facilities for community use.
The church is one of a number of organisations throughout East Lindsey to receive funding from East Lindsey District Council’s Community Grants scheme. The funding is due to be used to install a kitchenette and toilet facilities in the church for community activities.
Portfolio Holder for Communities and Community Grants Panel Chairman, Councillor Sandra Harrison, said “On behalf of East Lindsey District Council it is immensely pleasing to be able to support these worthwhile community projects through the Community Grants Scheme. These will benefit a wide range of people in local communities and support the very strong sense of community spirit in these areas.”
Other local recipients include:
£250 to Sunshine Children’s Centre, Burgh Le Marsh to purchase new items of equipment
£4,637 to Burgh Le Marsh Village Hall Committee to install a new heating system in the village hall
£2,200 to Burgh Le Marsh W.I Hall Committee to install a disabled access car park in front of the hall
£2,531 to Burgh Parish Nursing Group to purchase new additional equipment and to send their volunteers on a series of useful training courses
The Council’s Community Grant Scheme is now closed for the 2012/13 financial year, but is anticipated to reopen in Spring 2013 – subject to Council budget approval. Any local groups wishing to be added to the mailing list to receive updates and a 2013/14 Community Grant Application Pack should contact Community Grants Assistant, Teresa Foreman, at community.grants@e-lindsey.gov.uk or call 01507 613040.
