Spilsby students will have a special guest watching them compete at a sports tournament in July.
Lord Coe will be the guest of honour at the inaugural summer cup, a competition between the seven academies in the David Ross Education Trust.
Spilsby’s King Edward VI Academy will have strong representation at the event, taking place at the Grantham Sports Stadium in July.
Lord Coe will hand out the medals as part of DRET’s Play your Part campaign, which aims to encourage students to reach their sporting potential.
Mike Irving, subject leader for physical education at King Edward, said students would be inspired by his presence.
He said: “Lord Coe is one of the country’s all-time great sporting icons and a hero. What an incredible opportunity this is, to be able to meet him in person.”
Over the last eight months, students have worked with Team GB’s Ellie Stevens (athletics) and Hannah Hicks (table tennis) plus shooting’s Olympian and Commonwealth gold medallist Aaron Heading and sprinter Christian Malcolm.
