To commemorate VE day, local veteran Ron Worth visited Spilsby Primary School to talk to the children about his experience as an evacuee in the Second World War.
Mr Worth, who is president of the Spilsby and District branch of the Royal British Legion, talked about where he was and what he was doing on VE Day 70 years ago.
Kezzia Upsall, from Year 5, said: “It was so interesting listening to his life story and how it would have felt as a child being an evacuee.
“We learned lots of fact of what the children had to do in the war. Mr Worth brought in a page from a newspaper from 70 years ago showing people celebrating.” “They had years of fighting and then such big celebration,” said Leo Clarke from Year 5.
Year 5 teacher Kate Taylor said: “Mr Worth brought history to life talking about his experiences, they listened attentively and were captivated.”
