The threat of pylons across the local landscape has diminished after RWE npower renewables latest announcement.

RWE npower renewables had identified Sloothby, Monksthorpe or Welton Le Marsh as potential locations for a 40-acre substation along with pylons that would have spoilt local views across the Wolds.  However, this was put on hold in January for the company to look at alternative solutions with the National Grid.

The company has now come forward and stated that the windfarm will now be connected to the existing transmission system at Bicker Fen, south of Boston and work will be underground.

Local campaign groups have fought a long battle with RWE to stop the substation and associated pylons, and this is a major victory for their cause and anyone who appreciates the natural beauty of the local area.
