MP drops by at care home

Article Written By: Skegness Standard

Residents and staff at Eresby Hall care home in Spilsby welcomed a visit from their MP Victoria Atkins on National Care Home Open Day.

During her visit Mrs Atkins met Arthur and Gladys Goodacre who celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last year.

Eresby Hall was one of a number of care homes in the Louth and Horncastle constituency participating in the event this month.

A UK-wide initiative, care homes are invited to open their doors to guests with the aim of creating lasting links between residents and local communities.

Working as a part of the Orders of St. John Care Trust, Eresby Hall provides care for older people and impairments and offers respite and day care.

Mrs Atkins said: "It was a real privilege to join those taking part in National Care Home Open Day, by visiting Eresby Hall.

"I very much enjoyed speaking with residents such as Arthur and Gladys Goodacre who celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last year.

"I was also impressed by the thoughtfulness of such facilities as the Eresby Arms, a bar for residents, the tea room and a hairdressers which are all available to make residents feel at home.

She added: "The work being undertaken by staff at care homes such as Eresby Hall across Lincolnshire is incredibly important. It is vital we ensure older people receive the high quality, compassionate care they need later in life.

"I fully support the Government in its efforts to improve the level of social care throughout Britain."
