Officials to reveal full details of £8 million Skegness Countryside Business Park

Article Written By: East Lindsey Target

Full details on a Skegness business park which could create 700 jobs are being unveiled later today.

Work on the £8 million Countryside Business Park could start by Autumn this year.

Today, Wednesday, March 25, officials will gather to officially reveal the full plans.

Lincolnshire County Council, the Greater Lincolnshire LEP and Croftmarsh Limited are hosting the official marketing launch for the development from 11am.

It will be built on land off Heath Road and will connect to the Wainfleet Road Industrial Estate.

A public house, 84-bed hotel, petrol filling station, office and manufacturing units will all be included in the site. The project will also see 1,500sqm of new industrial units built.

It is hoped the development will pave the way for a larger Western Economic Growth Corridor for Skegness.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Paul Wheatley, group manager for economic development at the county council, said: "The business park will give local firms the room they need to grow, something that will be of great benefit to the local economy.

"This event will be an opportunity for them to learn more about our plans for the site, and how it could potentially provide an ideal home for their operations."

The business park had £4 million of Government funding handed to it in July last year, through a bid by the Greater Lincolnshire LEP.

It has also had funding help from Lincolnshire County Council and developer Croftmarsh Limited.

Councillor Colin Davie, executive member for economic development, told BBC Radio Lincolnshire this morning: "We are recognising the need for the coast to grow. We are very ambitious about the Lincolnshire coast."
