Emergency service obesity calls in Lincolnshire double

Firefighters in Lincolnshire have seen a doubling in the number of calls to assist the ambulance service treat obese people in one year. Last year Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service attended 37 incidents, compared with 16 in 2014 /2015. The service is now carrying out special training sessions using a 28 stone (179kg) dummy. An ambulance driver who crashed, killing a patient in his vehicle, has been convicted of a driving offence. Garth Green, 63, was found guilty of driving without due care and attention after his ambulance ended up in a 12ft (3m) deep ditch on the way to hospital. Patient in Lincolnshire ambulance crash dies

A 75-year-old woman has died after the ambulance she was a patient in crashed in Lincolnshire. It happened about 03:00 GMT near the junction with High Ferry Lane on the A16 Boston Road at Sibsey. Two male ambulance service staff, aged 62 and 52, were taken to Boston Pilgrim Hospital and treated for minor injuries. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have appealed for witnesses.
