Around 180 pupils from 12 local schools brought their best singing voices to perform in the annual Spilsby Schools’ Music Festival at Spilsby Methodist Church recently.Conducted by Amanda Rivers, local piano teacher and director of youth theatre in Boston and Skegness; the children performed a programme of songs based round the theme ‘Space’. This Thursday will mark 70 years since the Bomb Dump Explosion which took the lives of 10 airmen and RAF Spilsby will commemorate the fallen. It was Easter Monday, April 10, 1944 when 10 squadrons from Spilsby lost their lives to the bomb explosion. The majority of local schools are expected to remain open during tomorrow’s nationwide teachers’ strike, though parents have been warned to be prepared for last minute closures.
