Warnings of a storm surge on the east coast of England have led to military being drafted in to respond. Police force becomes first in UK to mount global search for chief

Lincolnshire Police will be the first UK force to advertise internationally for its new chief constable. Marc Jones, the county’s police and crime commissioner, said the role would be open for candidates from the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Lincolnshire Police have voiced its disappointment at a further £3 million cut to its Government Force Grant. From today everyone will be able to view local policing and crime information down to street level. Residents then only need to type in their street or postcode to view the level of crimes in their area including burglary, violence and anti-social behaviour.
