A Skegness man, who was found growing cannabis in his house at Spilsby, has been fined by magistrates.

Michael James McMahon, 25, of The Meadows, Skegness, admitted producing cannabis at his then home at Manor Drive, Halton Holegate, Spilsby.

Marie Stace, prosecuting, told the magistrates that police went to McMahon’s home at 1.20pm on March 9 and in a bedroom they found four cannabis plants growing under a tent with a fan and light bulb.

She said the plants were consistent with having been grown from seed and he told the officers he was growing them for his own personal use.

In mitigation, Gordon Holt said it was a small scale, unsophisticated cannabis grow at McMahon’s then accommodation.

McMahon was fined £110 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
