A new face can be seen patrolling the beat in Spilsby and Wainfleet as PC Matt Dickinson takes up the reins as Community Beat Manager for the local Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Formerly a Neighbourhood Response Officer for the area, PC Dickinson’s new role will be to work alongside his team of four PCSOs to address issues affecting the local community.
At a recent Neighbourhood Panel meeting, problem parking in Spilsby was identified as a priority and PC Dickinson intends to tackle the matter through a campaign of education and enforcement.
“Countless people have approached me with concerns about illegal parking in Spilsby,” explained PC Dickinson. “It is obviously a subject that local residents feel very strongly about and my job as Beat Manager is to listen to the community and help find solutions where I can”.
Motorists in the town are to be reminded that they have a choice when it comes to short term parking. They can opt for the pay and display ticket that costs a few pence for half an hour or the considerably more expensive fixed penalty notice ticket that costs a hefty £30 for just a few minutes!
PC Dickinson ended by saying “I am really looking forward to this new role. Being a Beat Manager will allow me to fully get involved in projects and local initiatives whilst forging strong relationships within the community”.
Former Beat Manager, PC Terry Standbrook, has assumed the role of Neighbourhood Response Officer so will remain a familiar face in the Spilsby area.
