Spilsby’s childrens centre has become the first in the East Midlands region as well as the county to be judged outstanding by Ofsted.
Inspectors judged Spilsby Children’s Centre as ‘outstanding’ overall, including outcomes for those who use the services, the provision of services and leadership and management at the centre.
The inspection report states: “Spilsby is an outstanding children’s centre. It operates at the very heart of the community. Parents, carers and partner providers are full of praise for the quality of its work.”
Other recent Ofsted inspections have rated children’s centres around the county as ‘good’ and providing an excellent range of services for local families.
Children’s centres provide support all the year round for young children aged five and under and their families. Each centre is suited to the needs of the local community. Partnerships with service providers can give help and guidance on topics such as first aid, health and finances, legal advice, childcare, child behaviour management and communication skills. Community rooms provide child friendly activities and adult training sessions and consultations.
Outreach programmes have also been developed, taking sessions into rural communities that can’t easily access any centres, bringing support to families wherever they live.
