A mobile website has been launched by East Lindsey District Council enabling residents to access Council services in a fast and convenient way from their mobile phones.
The mobile website, which has been developed in-house, allows residents to report issues, check their wheeled bin collection dates, access contact details for Council Customer Service Centres, Tourist Information Centres and Leisure Centres; and keep up to date with the latest Council news, plus much more.
The council stated that as not everyone has a home computer to access the Internet, a growing number of people have mobile phones with internet access and the mobile website enables residents to access key information whilst on the move.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Doreen Stephenson, said: “We need to continually improve access to our services and make it as easy as possible for people to conduct their business with us. In the past few months we’ve restructured our website to make information easier to find and the mobile website app supports this ongoing improvement programme.
“As a Council we need to embrace new technologies and continually look at how we can provide services in modern and effective ways.”
Editor’s Note: despite the Council’s assertation that the website is an ‘app’, it is not actually an ‘app’ that smartphone users would recognise as an app that can be downloaded and launched by pressing an icon on their phone. It is actually a website designed for mobile phones. Please do not try to find it on the app store on your phone, the link is below!
