Brylaine Travel has announced that they are to pause their Saturday bus services for three months from January.
The company, which runs services through Spilsby, said that due to a significant reduction in the number of available drivers, combined with a critical shortage of PCV drivers in Lincolnshire, has meant that they will be unable to operate their Saturday bus services from 1st January 2022 until the end of March 2022. This comes after a period of reduced service due to driver shortages.
In a statement the company stated that the cancellation had not been taken lightly and was made after a “huge amount of soul searching” but it was a necessary step in order to ensure that all services can remain fully operational from Monday to Friday.
Brylaine confirmed that this change will not affect school services, school contracts or any Monday to Friday daily services and that there would be no changes to the weekday timetables. The following services across Lincolnshire will not be operating on Saturdays:
- Boston Town IT1/5
- Spalding Town IT2
- A6 Horncastle – Boston
- A8 Horncastle – Horncastle
- IC7 Skegness – Boston
- B11 Spilsby – Boston
- B13 Boston – Spalding
- B15 Boston – Woodhall Spa
- IC5 Lincoln – Boston
- G61 Boston – Fishtoft
- K58 Boston – Kirton
- K59 Boston – Spalding
The company informed Lincolnshire County Council of its’ intentions on Monday 7th December and has requested support from the Council to help infill the reduction using Call Connect and other providers. Anyone needing to ensure transport on a Saturday from 4th January 2022 should contact Call Connect in 0345 456 4474 Monday to Friday between 9 am and 6 pm, and Saturday 9:30 am to 4 pm or visit the LincsBus website.
To try to help alleviate the current driver shortage Brylaine has created its’ own driver training academy and are welcoming interest and applications from anyone who would consider PCV driving as a new step on their career ladder.
