New Caravan and Camping Park Opens

A new caravan and camping park has opened its gates following a grant of £5,000 from East Lindsey District Council.

Furze Hill House Farm Caravan and Camping Park based in Hagworthingham has successfully applied for the grant from the Council’s Rural Development Fund.

The grant has enabled owner, Helen Roberts to make alterations to the property to convert fields into a caravan and camping site.

The site, which will be open all year around, can accommodate up to five caravans or motorhomes and ten tents at any one time. There are electrical hook ups for up to seven units.

The business has already been certified by the Caravan and Camping Club and in the future hopes to offer employment.

Owner, Helen said: “The grant has enabled us to make alterations to the property in order to set up a caravan and camping site. The entrance and road way has been improved as well as water, electricity and sanitary services laid on to the camp site a short distance from the farm yard.”

“We are very grateful to receive this grant from the Council as it has enabled us to diversify from traditional farming and branch out into the leisure industry. Where possible we have used local businesses to do the works on this new project which include the main site contractor, M G Building Services, Tony Lawrie Electrical and Signwriter Charles Waters who has designed and painted the new farm sign at the entrance. In fact we have received tremendous support from the other business owners in the village and their encouragement has been amazing.

Operating as a Certified Site for the Camping and Caravanning Club; our aim is to encourage visitors into the area and provide them with a family and pet friendly environment from which they can explore the fabulous Lincolnshire Wolds and boost local tourism.”

Portfolio Holder for Market Towns and Rural Economy, Councillor Adam Grist, said: “It’s great to see a new business being developed and looking to make the most of the Lincolnshire Wolds as a visitor destination. I wish Helen all the very best with her venture and I hope it brings an added boost to trade in Hagworthingham and the surrounding area.”

Since its launch in 2012, the Rural Development Fund has awarded £927,074 to 36 local businesses, creating 51 Full time positions, 13 part time positions and 10 apprenticeships.
