King Edward VI Academy in Spilsby has issued a statement to parents and guardians after what they described as an ‘incident’ at the school today, confirming no staff or students were harmed.
In a statement the school said:
I am writing to let you know about an incident that happened at school this morning – I want to stress that no students or staff were harmed.
Just over an hour ago, an unidentified, unarmed man suffering from a head injury came onto the school site. Our processes for dealing with situations such as this immediately kicked in, and our lockdown procedures was initiated. Thanks to the swift actions of our staff the individual did not enter any school buildings. He was restrained, and the Police were called, but did not attend. An ambulance crew came to school within 30 minutes and the individual was taken off site to receive medical attention.
Our staff responded calmly and swiftly, and as a result exams taking place today carried on without disruption.
This is clearly now a Police matter, and whilst incidents such as these are rare, I appreciate will be concerning for families. My thanks go to our staff for their immediate reactions and for ensuring that the situation was dealt with so professionally.
