Lincolnshire County Council has been forced to think again over the future of libraries.

The authority wanted to turn 30 libraries into community run hubs.

At the High Court this morning Mr Justice Collins ruled the decision was unlawful.

It was announced in Court One at the Royal Courts of Justice after hearing legal arguments in a two day hearing earlier this month.

Lincoln carer Simon Draper challenged LCC’s decision to axe 30 libraries and run them with volunteers as community hubs in a bid to save £1.7m.

His decision to take the council to a Judicial Review was backed by the Save Lincs Libraries campaign.
