A memorial bench dedicated to Spilsby teenager Charles Benton, who died in a road accident, has been repaired after it was deliberately damaged.

Vandals had last month ripped the bench on Boston Road from its concrete base and pulled it apart at the joints.

It was the second time the wooden bench has been vandalised.

Charles, who suffered from learning difficulties, was a pedestrian and aged 16 when he was involved in a collision with a vehicle on the A16 near Spilsby.

A fundraising appeal was launched to pay for the bench following his death in 2000.

Charles’ brother Victor repaired the bench, which was placed back in position earlier this month.
