Spilsby Primary School is planning to create a nature land with the help of local businesses and groups.
Year 3 and 4 pupils are looking to renovate the run-down area and build a sensory garden, a music area, a wildflower garden, a stage, a sculpture and outdoor story area whilst keeping the area wildlife friendly.
With an overwhelming response from local shops and groups, work has begun as part of the students’ topic ‘Window on a Changing World’. Fundraising events have also helped increase their budget.
Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust attended to help clear the area by cutting back trees along with Skegness Morrisons workers, Lisa, Sheena and Keith.
Year 4 teacher, Mrs Rachel Jeffery said: “The children are so excited by the project and are loving seeing their plans come to life. The generosity of the local community has been overwhelming and we would like to give our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported us with the project so far.”
The project should be finished in the next couple of months.
