The 2nd Spilsby Scouts Group have received a much-needed boost thanks to the generosity of local businesses and individuals, including the Spilsby Freemasons, who not only helped fit the brand-new kitchen in their own time at the group’s headquarters but also donated £500 to support their activities.
The Scouts, a key part of the local community, had been struggling with outdated kitchen facilities, impacting their ability to run cooking activities and host events. Recognising the need, members of the Spilsby Freemasons volunteered their time and skills to install the new kitchen, which is now fully equipped for the Scouts’ needs.
In addition to the practical help, the Masons’ financial contribution will go towards additional resources for the group, enabling them to continue offering a wide range of educational and recreational opportunities for local young people.
“We’re incredibly grateful to the Spilsby Freemasons and everyone who generously donated their time and money for their support,” said Andrew Wright, Chair of the 2nd Spilsby Scouts Trustees. “The new kitchen is a game-changer for us and will make a real difference in helping us expand our activities.”
The partnership highlights the strength of local organisations working together to improve facilities and opportunities for the next generation. The kitchen will be formally opened in the new year at a coffee morning event which all those who donated will be invited.
2nd Spilsby Scout Group have been providing generations of local families with access to scouting since 1964.
The group currently operate 4 sections, for both boys and girls from ages 4 to 14 years old during term times, with extra activities and events at weekends.
