New waste collection calendars will be delivered to all homes in East Lindsey during December and some people will have a change in collection day from January. The new calendars should not be used until January 17, 2011.
Residents are asked to read their new calendars carefully as they may need to present their wheeled bins in a different combination to their neighbour. Not everyone will have a change in collection day, some residents may have a change in the bins they present each week and others will see no changes.
The change in collection day is a result of a round restructure by East Lindsey District Council, which will save the community £100,000 per year.
The Government recently announced that Councils should expect a reduction in funding of at least 28% over the next four year and this efficiency saving will help towards that. It isn’t yet clear to Councils what reduction there will be each year during the four years but the total savings needed will be around £4.5m for East Lindsey District Council.
Portfolio Holder for Amenities, Councillor Brian Burnett, explained: “Councils have no choice but to be smarter with how they spend money. By restructuring our rounds we can make this considerable saving without reducing the quality of service to local people.”
Anyone who is unsure of their round information once they have received their new calendars is encouraged to contact East Lindsey District Council.
