The second round of Community Grants funding is available for community groups in the area. Spilsby and the surrounding area have previously benefitted from this project by the funding of a number of community-based projects.
The scheme, operated by East Lindsey District Council, awards grants of up to £8,000 to community groups who are ‘formally governed not for profit’ organisations and Town and Parish Council that have community projects they wish to undertake that benefit local residents.
The grants can be used to fund a variety of activities including and not limited to projects that focus on community facilities, sports and recreation, arts and heritage and environmental projects.
There is over £70,000 available to be awarded during this round of funding and applications need to be submitted by September 13, 2012. The applications will be considered by the Community Grants Panel on October 25, 2012 and so applicants should be aware that their projects can not start before this date.
To support groups wishing to apply for a Community Grant, a series of workshops are being held across the district over the coming weeks. The most local event is being held at the Franklin Hall in Spilsby between 12:30pm and 2:00pm on Thursday 19 July. Other events are being held around the district should local groups not be able to attend this event.
Potential applicants are encouraged to attend one of these events as they provide a valuable insight into the scheme and help groups to make a successful application.
Groups wishing to attend one of these workshops are asked to register their interest by contacting the Community Grants Team on 01507 613040 or by emailing [email protected] as venues, dates and times can be amended dependent up on interest.
Grant Application packs including the information guide can be downloaded from the East Lindsey District Council’s website – www.e-lindsey.gov.uk/communitygrants or paper hard copies can be obtained by contacting the Community Grants Team.
