The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for Lincolnshire with up to 8cm of snow forecast across the county.
Light snow showers predicted to fall in the late afternoon will turn to heavy snow into the night.
Motorists are warned to be cautious during rush hour traffic this evening.
This is the last flurry of snow before temperatures are set to rise over the next week, according to forecasts. Snow will cease into Saturday and temperatures will begin to rise in the afternoon. Wind and rain is forecast for Saturday but the sun should break through on Sunday with temperatures reaching up to 7°C.
Throughout the week the weather will become milder but conditions will remain wet and windy.
