In-house hot school meals provision is coming to Stickney Primary School with the opening of a new kitchen pod.
Having won a significant £1.2m bid from the Department for Education under the universal free school meals programme, Lincolnshire County Council have installed stand-alone, fully equipped kitchen pods at seven schools across Lincolnshire, including Stickney Primary School.
In addition, a new kitchen has been installed at Friskney Primary in an existing kitchen space extended to accommodate the increased demand for meals cooked on site and to enable the school to transport meals out to another local primary.
The schools are now able to provide their children with new menus and food education linked to growing and cooking, giving them greater scope to provide appropriate menus without being subject to a controlled menu brought in from an external provider.
