The pilot has been named as 55-year-old Simon Barrett from Boston.
A statement, released by Lincolnshire Police on behalf of Mr Barrett’s family, said:
“Simon was a family man, a devoted, supportive and loving husband and Dad.
“Flying was Simon’s number one hobby and he took every opportunity to take to the calm and peace of the sky whenever the weather permitted.
“He had been flying for around 30 years as well as enjoying DIY at home.”

The pilot of a small aircraft has died after crashing near Spilsby.
Police and ambulance services responded to a small aircraft crash at Mavis Enderby near Spilsby at 1.23pm on Sunday afternoon. The pilot was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigations are continuing by Lincolnshire Police and the Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) to determine the cause of the accident.
