A land worker who carried out a revenge attack on his former employer, armed with a foot-long cauliflower machete, has been jailed for 11 years.
Dean Millington, 35, was one of two masked men armed with knives who broke into their victim’s home in Spilsby, Lincolnshire, in October.
Lincoln Crown Court heard the pair threatened the gangmaster and his wife, shouting “where is the money?”.
Officers are still looking for the second man involved in the attack.
The court heard the victim was pushed to the floor and punched in the face.
The gangmaster’s wife started screaming, then one of the men put his hand around her throat.
The robbers then searched the downstairs of the property, looking for money, before fleeing with a handbag and £50 cash.
‘Terrifying’ experience
Phil Howes, prosecuting, said: “The victims were left terrified by the incident and both have since been severely affected by their experience.”
He said Millington, of High Street, Spilsby and his accomplice, threatened the couple with knives used for cutting cauliflowers in the fields.
The court was also told Millington, whose job was to pick crops, had taken revenge on his employer after he was reprimanded for his work rate and reliability.
Mr Howes said Millington’s response was to tell the gangmaster “I can make you look silly”.
Passing sentence, Judge Michael Heath told Millington: “You subjected your employer and his partner to a terrifying incident.”
Millington admitted robbery and possession of a machete as a result of the raid on 17 October. He asked for an offence of burglary at the same house on 5 September to be taken into consideration.
