After a suitably frosty start to the day, the countdown to Christmas is about to start in Spilsby as the town welcomes its’ annual switch-on event and Christmas Market.
Under a new management team from previous years, including Spilsby Business Partnership and the Town Council, there will be craft, Christmas goods and food stalls. Face painting. Amusement rides. A full programme of entertainment during the afternoon with a mini fun fair, puppet show, singing from local singing groups and Skegness Silver Band.
The event will be opened at 1pm by the Mayor Cllr Terry Taylor and Canon Coates. The Christmas Lights will be switched on at 5pm by Cllr Taylor.
Santa will be there to give out small gifts to the children and this year will be accompanied by Mrs Santa. They will ride around town in a sleigh.
Although the car parks in the centre of town will be closed for the event, Robin Hood Car Parks are offering free parking during the event on the old Jackson’s yard car park (access via Reynard Street only).
Please be aware that the High Street will be closed from 11am until the end of the event – for diversions see map below. Buses are being diverted down Boston Road with the nearest bus stop near Beijing Dragon restaurant.
