A woman has died and a man is in serious condition after a road traffic accident on the A16 at Driby Top.
Update: Earlier today we reported that the child’s father had also died. Due to a mistake by Lincolnshire Police this information is INCORRECT. The child’s father is still in serious condition in hospital. We wish him and his child a speedy recovery.
The woman has now been named as Katarzyna Olewicz aged 28, who had been living in Prince Alfred Avenue in Skegness. Her husband remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital and her three-year-old son, who suffered minor injuries in the collision, has returned to Poland with grandparents.

The male driver of the car involved in this road traffic accident is in a life-threatening condition in hospital. He is NOT dead as previously communicated. We sincerely apologise for this mistake.
We are still in the process of contacting the relatives of the male and his family, who are confirmed as Polish.

Two cars were involved in a serious collision. A woman passenger in one of the cars was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver of the same car was taken by air ambulance to Hull Royal Infirmary. He is in a serious condition. A three-year-old boy, who was also a passenger in the that car was taken by road ambulance to Grimsby Hospital, his condition has yet to be confirmed. Early indications are that the aforementioned casualties are a family of foreign nationals living in the Skegness area. Police are in the process of trying to confrim their identies and inform their relatives.
The woman driver, the sole occupant of the other car, has been taken to Grimsby Hospital with what are believed to be serious injuries.
The road will be closed for several hours whilst the cars are recovered and the police investigation is carried out.
