An amateur dramatics society in Spilsby, praised for ’embracing everyone in the community’, has been awarded £300 by the town council.
Spilsby Local Amateur Pantomime Society (SLAPS) requested the funding to help it cope with the ‘significant’ costs of arranging its ‘very popular’ annual production.
In a letter to Spilsby Town Council the society said last season’s production of King Arthur and the Four Bears ‘involved every section of the town’ and causes a ‘real buzz’.
Coun Michael Lenton, who played the part of ‘Daddy Bear’, said it ‘encapsulates and embraces everyone in the community’.
Councillors at Thursday’s meeting agreed to the donation, which will be used for this February’s production of Cinderella and the Frog.
