Support for team’s French fixture

Spilsby Juniors Football Club celebrated netting a £500 donation for a match in France.

The U16 team will be crossing the channel in July for the annual fixture with twin town Fresnay sur Sarthe.

The money, donated by Spilsby Town Council, will contribute to the team’s travel expenses.

Mayor Peter Grant presented a cheque at the recreation ground on Wednesday before the team’s game against Fishtoft. Manager Gordon Lane said: “We certainly did not expect this amount and are very grateful to the town council. The lads have been doing their own fundraising including sponsored walk and bike rides.”
