Police have released the name of the motorcyclist killed at East Kirkby on Saturday. He has been named as David Blackburn from West Keal.
The accident occurred at about 17:40 on Saturday evening on the A155 near East Kirby. The driver of the other vehicle involved, a 56 year old man from Cambridge, was arrested for causing death by careless driving and released on police bail.
This brings to 13 the number of people killed on Lincolnshire’s roads so far this year compared with 8 at the same time last year. This is the 3rd motor cyclist to be killed since the beginning of the year. Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area and saw the collision itself or saw either vehicle prior to the collision to contact them either via the witness hotline: 01522 558855 or 0300 111 0300.
This latest tragedy is a sad reminder that all road users need to take care and attention when out and about – it isn’t necessarily your driving or riding that will cause an accident but you can easily be caught up in someone elses. Please take care.
