A Spilsby man was almost three times over the drink drive limit the morning after a night of heavy drinking.
Alan Cussons, 58, of Queen Street, admitted driving his Vauxhall Vectra with excess alcohol on The Terrace in Spilsby on February 20.
Appearing at Skegness Magistrates, Paul Wood prosecuting said Cussons was stopped by the police at 9.40am because he was driving very slowly.
Following a breath test, the reading was 100 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
Mitigating, Nicholas Alderson said it was Cussons’ first time in court.
He said he had been up late watching television and drinking cider the night before and had got up to move his car onto a car park.
After the magistrates stood the case down for a report from the Probation Service, Mr Alderson added that Cussons had spoken to both the Probation Service and Addaction during the break and it had been a ‘wake-up call’ for him.
The magistrates imposed a 12 month community order with supervision and a requirement to undergo alcohol treatment for six months.
He was also disqualified from driving for two years but was offered the drink drivers’ rehabilitation course, which would reduce his period of disqualification by six months.
Magistrates also ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
